Fleet Foxes is an indie folk band from Seattle, Washington. They came to prominence in 2008 with the release of their second EP, Sun Giant, and their debut full length album, Fleet Foxes. They have received much praise and critical acclaim for their lyrics and harmonies.
This group has an eclectic sound that is a mixture of Appalachian folk, 1960s west coast, and AM country. Their music has a rustic beauty with a medieval influence that can conjure up images of the Appalachian mountains. Fleet Foxes's melodies and harmonies have a lulling, sometimes eerie and hymnal tonality. Both their music and vocals can be appreciated in their simplest form with clear and crisp intonations. With songs that showcase instruments such as the flute, banjo, and accordion it is hard to refute that Fleet Foxes has unlocked the musical time space continuum.
